Administrative Leave/Notice Period

After you receive your RIF notice, you are entitled to at least 60 days’ advance written notice before the official separation date. You will likely be placed on ‘administrative leave,’ although you are still a CDC employee.

During this period of administrative leave:

  • You are not expected to remain online.

  • You will continue to accrue annual leave, pension, and time to retirement.

  • Your pay, elections, and other benefits will not be affected.

  • Performance awards for 2024 should have already arrived in a lump sum, during a regular pay cycle.

    • Note that all employee elections for 2024 performance awards (e.g., Time Off Awards or Quality Step Increases (QSIs)) were converted to cash awards due to the RIF.

Health Insurance Coverage:

  • Your health insurance will not be affected during administrative leave.

  • After separation, you must obtain new health insurance coverage.

    • Vision and dental coverage will immediately end.

    • Health insurance coverage will continue for 31 days at no cost.

Participating in Advocacy and Obtaining Employment:

You are able to participate in activities with the Union or other advocacy organizations, but it must be in accordance with federal ethics and conduct rules

You are entitled to gain other employment, provided the job that directly conflicts with your official CDC duties (remember, you are still technically a CDC employee, even while on administrative leave).  Review the following for guidance and required documents:
